Immigration law - Linguistic minority law

Lhe Société de l'Acadie du Nouveau-Brunswick ensures that the rights of the Acadians of New Brunswick are respected, so that the Acadian regions develop and so that Acadian specificity is recognized.

 

The goal of the project is to create an informative document of the “double-sided pamphlet” type which will then be distributed by the organization in specific places that can help the target population concerning the rights of Francophones in the province.  The project has two components:

1. Research and information gathering: Students will carry out legal research on specific themes relating to the French-speaking minority language using all relevant informative documentation.

2. Creation of an informative document: Using the data collected during the first part, students will have to create an informative document of the “double-sided pamphlet” type. On the one hand, the document will provide popular information on language rights legislation in New Brunswick and on the other hand, there will be information on the public and government services provided in both official languages by the province of New Brunswick.

Criteria:  

  • Excellent research and written communication skills;

  • Have a spirit of initiative and an ability to work independently ; 

  • Have an open mind; and

  • Work hard to meet established deadlines

Assets: 

  • Have taken courses such as immigration law, refugee law or administrative law; 

  • Have knowledge of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; et 

  • Have knowledge of the situation of linguistic minority rights in New Brunswick.
