The New Brunswick Refugee Clinic (NBRC) provides free legal services to refugee claimants and people making humanitarian immigration applications based in New Brunswick who cannot afford a private lawyer.
The project consists of helping in the preparation of asylum applications for the organization's clientele. This project has several components:
1. Meetings with customers: The student will be able to take part in the meetings and will be able to take part in them to ask specific pre-established questions and learn to ask the appropriate questions regarding the situation. The student will also take notes and write a summary of the meetings afterwards.
2. Research: The student will then carry out guided research related to the stated needs of clients who come to the clinic. The research will have a contextual aspect (related to countries and social, political, religious context, etc. to clarify the situation of persecution) and a legal aspect (jurisprudence, laws, regulations, etc.).
3. Participation inmock hearings : The student may participate in themock hearingsclients with the general manager of the clinic and under the supervision of the supervising lawyer.
